Report Via BAR
The ships flight UH-1 N was inscribed "USS Guadalcanal" (also inscribed "TITS"). The Huey carried a submarine 'kill'. Apparently, the pilot was flying a routine overwater mission when a Russian sub surfaced right below him. Not having any armament at all, the pilot slung his lunch-pack at it and scored a direct hit!.
